Greetings,

We hope February has been kind. This month, we’re revealing our custom campaign artwork for CIBD 2026, sharing updates on TBL, and more.

Settled in? Coffee in hand? Let’s go!

CIBD 2026 Artwork Reveal

We can’t wait to celebrate indies across the country on April 25!

In December, we shared that we were working with talented artist and illustrator Sid Sharp to design this year’s campaign artwork. We’re delighted to reveal Sid’s illustration below, which celebrates indie bookstores and the booksellers who bring them to life.

We asked Sid to share some behind-the-scenes insights about their approach. Read the interview here.

Our graphic designer is using Sid’s artwork to create campaign resources, including digital graphics for posters, web banners, and social media images. These graphics will be made available to members in March.

In the meantime, you can download our Save the Date here. We'll be posting this on Facebook and Instagram this coming Friday!

Recap: 2026 Member Survey

Thank you to all the Bookseller Members who participated in this year’s survey. Your feedback helps ensure CIBA’s work reflects the real needs, challenges, and opportunities facing independent bookstores across Canada.

Members can find an overview of key themes and responses from the survey results on the Member Blog. We are sharing this summary with members in advance of the Coffee Break session on March 9. We invite members to attend that session to expand on their survey responses and ask additional questions.

Click here to read the recap.

Following this event, the team will address the feedback and communicate strategic priorities for the coming years to the full membership. Stay tuned!

RISE Bookselling Updates

RISE Bookselling is a network project organized by the European and International Booksellers Federation (EIBF). CIBA provides regular updates on RISE programming and promotes opportunities to get involved.

Contribute to the new RISE Reading Promotion Toolkit

How do you reach young readers? That’s what RISE Bookselling is asking for their new project. They’re collecting practice-based examples of bookseller initiatives that motivate reluctant or vulnerable young readers, especially children aged 9-15.

By sharing your experience, you will help shape the catalogue of actionable best practices, a core component of the Reading Promotion Toolkit that can help other booksellers promote a culture of reading across the globe.

RISE Booksellers Exchange: Call for Host Bookshops

The RISE Booksellers Exchange offers passionate booksellers the chance to spend a few days immersed in a foreign bookshop, share experiences, exchange best practices, and build lasting connections.

Although the application to participate as a traveller has now passed, the program is also seeking host bookstores in Canada. Hosts offer their time, insight, and everyday expertise, while gaining fresh perspectives and building lasting connections in return. This week, Mill Street Books is hosting Ruth McCarthy, a bookseller from Limerick, Ireland!

For more information, visit the FAQ section on risebookselling.ca. Those interested in applying to be a host can do so here.
