Publishers are invited to attend a webinar introducing booksellers.ca, the English-language counterpart to Quebec's successful leslibraires.ca platform. Together, they form a single national platform - the largest network of independent bookstores in Canada - serving readers in both official languages. This session will explore how this purpose-built digital marketplace has managed to compete effectively with global e-commerce web giants while simultaneously preserving the distinctive spirit of independent bookstores that are at the core of its DNA. Leveraging two decades of proven marketplace technology and expertise, the presentation will demonstrate how booksellers.ca provides book buyers with a unified, one-stop shopping experience where they can browse and purchase from the inventories of hundreds of bookstores across the country. The initiative seeks to expand access to books in both official languages, use AI to enhance the discoverability of Canadian publishers’ works and amplify Indigenous voices by connecting readers with authentic First Nations, Métis, and Inuit stories. The webinar, presented with eBOUND Canada, will also highlight how Canadian publishers and independent bookstores can pool their resources to better serve communities, encourage online shoppers to buy local, and create an additional sales channel for their products. Key features to be discussed include catalog and inventory synchronization, content curation, smart order fulfillment and advertising opportunities.
